Join us for Advantum Health’s Revenue Cycle Insiders series, a monthly installment where we uncover the invaluable experiences and perspectives of our company’s revenue cycle leaders and team members. This month, meet Vinh Nguyen, Director of Software Logistics at Advantum Health.

Question: When did you start working in the healthcare revenue cycle industry?

Answer: In 2004, I joined a start-up company specializing in claims management software and developed a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the revenue cycle.

As the company grew, I was tasked with leading and managing two separate teams in India. In this capacity, I gained valuable experience in providing technical support, training, and customized development solutions for a large team across various technology products.

These experiences not only honed my leadership and management skills but also deepened my understanding of the healthcare industry, preparing me well for my current role at Advantum Health.

Question: What attracted you to the healthcare industry, and specifically the revenue cycle?

Answer: The healthcare industry and revenue cycle has incredible potential for streamlining and optimizing processes through robotic process automation (RPA) and data integration. This is especially the case for hospitals and physician groups where there continues to be tremendous opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Question: What is happening in the next six months in your area of expertise that excites you?

Answer: Over the next six months, we will intensify our efforts in revenue cycle RPA and data integration. This strategic move will be a game changer for Advantum Health and will play a pivotal factor in our growth, putting us in a prime market position.

I’m excited to see how RPA will boost our dashboard capabilities and make our reporting capabilities more robust.

Question: What are some of the biggest challenges your industry faces in the short term (one year or less)? What about in the long term?

Answer: Our biggest challenge continues to be data integration and integrity. Manual processes remain a persistent obstacle, hindering both short-term and long-term growth initiatives. Addressing these challenges is crucial for Advantum’’s continued success.

Question: If you could time travel, what advice would you give to yourself ten years ago?

Answer: Ten years ago, I would have attempted to figure out a way to integrate data and unify the data collections into RCM.

Question: What’s the best leadership advice you’ve received?

Answer: Be a servant leader and grow your team so that they are vested to strive everyday.
