Maria Taylor’s journey into the world of healthcare finance started in a simple but important place: an Urgent Care facility. There, she noticed something interesting about the way insurance payments were being handled – they weren’t quite right. Maria decided to take matters into her own hands. She taught herself about insurance, billing, and coding by reaching out to insurance companies, reading materials, and using online resources. Her efforts not only helped the Urgent Care get back on track financially but also sparked a passion for improving how healthcare money flows.
Maria didn’t stop her education after high school. She went on to study X-ray and Phlebotomy at Spencerian and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and administration with a minor in Communications from Spaulding University. This mix of healthcare and business knowledge gives her a unique perspective on how to manage healthcare finances effectively.
What Maria loves most about her job is seeing the results of her hard work. Whether it’s fixing billing mistakes or finding better ways to bring in money, knowing that she’s making a positive difference is what keeps her going. She also enjoys sharing what she’s learned with others, helping them understand the ins and outs of healthcare finances.
Maria knows that the healthcare world isn’t always easy to navigate. One big challenge she sees is that smaller medical practices are getting paid less because bigger hospitals and healthcare groups are taking over. Looking into the future, Maria sees more challenges coming, like confusion over new healthcare plans and less money for doctors to treat patients.
Maria feels lucky to work at Advantum Health. The company’s supportive culture and opportunities for growth have helped her succeed in her career. Being part of a team that values learning and collaboration makes her job even more rewarding.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys traveling and enjoying family time. She’s also proud to have served in the US Army. Maria’s positive attitude and determination inspire everyone around her.
Maria Taylor isn’t just a healthcare finance expert – she’s proof that with hard work and determination, anyone can make a difference in the world of healthcare.
